The University of Sydney Community Festival will be held on Saturday 7 November 2026 at the University of Sydney, Camperdown campus. Head down Eastern Avenue to the Quadrangle and you will find all the action!

The University of Sydney Community Festival runs from 11 am to 4 pm on Saturday 7 November 2026.

With free talks, tours, performances, exhibitions and hands-on activities taking place across campus throughout the day, there is something happening from morning through to afternoon. We recommend arriving early to make the most of the program and allow time to explore the campus.

Yes, absolutely! The Community Festival is designed for visitors of all ages including your littlest adventurers. From lawn games and roaming performers to magic experiences and hands-on research displays, there’s plenty to keep kids (and grown-ups!) entertained.

Yes! Furry friends on leashes are welcome to join in the fun on the outdoor grounds.

While pets won't be able to enter most buildings, there is plenty for them to enjoy across the festival. Don't miss the free pet health checks hosted by the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital (UVTHS), where veterinary experts and students will be available throughout the day to provide advice and basic health checks.

Pets of all varieties are welcome.

The Community Festival – including all activities and sessions – are completely free to attend.

A range of food and drink options will be available throughout the day, with food vendors located from the Quadrangle to the Chau Chak Wing Museum and along Eastern Avenue offering a variety of cuisines and options to suit different dietary requirements.

You can also visit the Festival Hub for a coffee from alumni-founded Kahawa Coffee, enjoy refreshments throughout the day, and stop by the Ecoscene Sustainable Juice Bar in Interactive Alley to blend your own zero-waste juice.

Water refill stations will also be available across campus, so don't forget to bring your reusable water bottle.

You’re welcome to bring your own food and enjoy a picnic on the lawns. To help reduce waste and support sustainability on campus, please use one of our three-bin waste stations around the festival for recycling, compost, and general waste.

Yes - we encourage you to share the fun and memories with your friends and family on social media. We would love to see the memories you made on the day, so please don’t forget to tag us and use #USYDAlumni.

There will also be event photography and filming from Festival staff and contractors occurring throughout the day. Any footage or photos may be used to promote the festival and University events in the future. If you have any concerns about this following the event, please contact alumni.office@sydney.edu.au.

Rain will not ruin the University of Sydney Community Festival!

All talks and many activities are inside or under cover. The Chau Chak Wing Museum has a full program of activities, Interactive Alley is under the cover of the historic cloisters and there will be plenty of space at the Festival hub marquee to catch up with friends.

We will email all registrants if a tour is cancelled because of weather conditions, so please keep an eye on your emails in the event of rain.

Whatever makes you comfortable! Check the weather before the day and come prepared to have some fun. A few suggestions include hat, sunnies, and walking shoes for any tours.

Closed toe shoes are required for the tour of the Chemistry building.

The University is committed to making the Community Festival as sustainable as possible. Visitors are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles and use the water refill stations located across campus. Clearly marked three-bin waste stations will also be available throughout the festival to help separate recycling, food waste and general waste, with food waste helping support Chester the biodigester.

The festival also features a range of sustainability-focused activities that showcase how University researchers, students and community partners are developing innovative solutions to environmental challenges.

Visit Interactive Alley to explore hands-on experiences including the Ecoscene Sustainable Juice Bar, climate technology demonstrations, sustainability research displays and Remediate!, a card game exploring solutions to plastic pollution.

Alumni are invited to relax in the Alumni Lounge, an exclusive space for University of Sydney alumni and their guests.

Enjoy complimentary tea and coffee, learn more about alumni benefits, reconnect with fellow graduates, and browse exclusive University of Sydney alumni merchandise available at alumni-only prices.

You can also revisit your graduation memories at the graduation photo experience in the Nicholson Museum, where gowns and trenchers are available for a graduation-themed photoshoot, complete with professional photography and selfie stations.

Upon registration, alumni will receive an Alumni Pass, which includes a complimentary tea or coffee from participating outlets on the day, as well as access to a priority queue for selected talks.

Yes, we have a couple of spaces available for parents during the Community Festival.

A parent's room is located within the Main Quadrangle in The Quad Seminar Room S225. There is also a parent's room available within the Chau Chak Wing Museum and in the foyer of the Michael Spence Building.

If you need help locating either space on the day, our friendly festival staff will be happy to assist.

Free parking will be available on campus. We recommend the New Law Building Car Park (entrance on Barff Road) for its proximity to Festival activities.

Alternatively, there is limited parking across campus, as well as in Glebe (on Arundel St/Catherine St), where you can use the pedestrian Footbridge to cross over to the University.

If you are arriving by bus, there are stops at our main entrances on Parramatta Road and City Road. There are frequent buses from Railway Square to Parramatta Road and City Road.

If you are walking to campus, Redfern station is a 20 minute walk to the main Quadrangle of the University of Sydney. Central station is a 25 minute walk.

Registering for the Community Festival helps you plan your day and stay up to date with important event information.

While most festival activities operate on a first-come, first-served basis, registration allows you to receive event updates and festival information before the day. Some activities have venue capacity limits, so arriving early is recommended for popular sessions.

Registration is free and open to everyone.

Alumni will need to register to receive their Alumni Pass.

Yes – once you have registered yourself, you will have the opportunity to add guests.

You can log back in at any time to add registrants, edit registrant details or access your ticket.

The more the merrier! We encourage you to spread the word and bring your family and friends.

There is no minimum age for guests – anyone and everyone is welcome! In fact, many sessions are designed with kids in mind. You can easily filter “By Age Group” on the “Full event listing” page to see which sessions appeal to a particular age group.

The University is dedicated to ensuring that all visitors have equal access to the experiences we offer. Some sessions, such as the Carillon tour may involve unavoidable steps or uneven ground.
